MOUNT VERNON — Finally, a good-weather Saturday.

Just in time for baseball.

The Mount Vernon Baseball Association kicked off its 2018 Little League season in style Saturday, with games around the city. Major League and Coach Pitch divisions began the year at Phillips Park, while Minor League began at the refurbished Dan Emmett Park.

“It was nice to have a nice, clear day,” said MVBA president Ron Clow. “You couldn’t beat the weather.”

Twenty-two teams began their season Saturday in 11 games. They began the morning at Dan Emmett to take team photos before heading off to their respective contests.
