MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Yellow Jacket baseball fans witnessed a close finish Friday.

Mustard and Hot Dog jockeyed for position down the first-base line until Ketchup took a late lead and crossed the finish line.

The race turned out to be the only suspense Friday.

The Mount Vernon baseball team gave up five runs in the first inning and never caught up, falling to visiting Hilliard Darby, 12-3, in nonconference play.
