MOUNT VERNON — Parkside Restaurant & Tavern will close its doors after their final day of operation April 28.

Parkside announced the closing in a Facebook post on March 27. Pirates’ Cove, a family-owned pizza shop will be moving into the 108 Mount Vernon Ave. space soon after Parkside closes.

The decision to close was made because “some things came together and made sense,” according to owner Kate Aryanata. She explained that she and Chef Anak Agung “Arya” Aryanata, who started Parkside in the summer of 2016, felt good about Pirates’ Cove and owner Tom Corrigan taking over the space because they love his family-owned restaurant, his commitment to fresh, homemade food and the fact that pizza will be a good fit for the bowlers next door.

“This is not a loss for us,” Aryanata said. “At the end of the day a business is a business and this is what we enjoy doing. We have had a lot of fun with Parkside — getting to know people and bringing dishes to Mount Vernon that have never been here before but we’re still part of the community and we aren’t going anywhere.”
