MOUNT VERNON — St. Gabriel Catholic Radio AM 820 presented a replica of the statue of the Our Lady of Fatima statue to Mary Brokaw, a Mount Vernon resident, Wednesday.

The statue was presented to a listener as part of the Spring Spirit Drive, one of two fundraisers that the station does. Brokaw, who said she has been a daily listener for the last several years, was the lucky recipient. She explained that she was entered into the drawing when she gave a pre-Spirit Drive donation but that she didn’t realize she was entering.

“Saturday morning I was standing at my sink and I had the radio on and they said ‘We had a drawing and Mary Brokaw in Mount Vernon is one of our winners of a statue of Our Lady of Fatima,’” Brokaw said. “You could have knocked me over with a feather. I didn’t know that there was going to be a drawing. I just felt so blessed — Too blessed to be stressed.”
