MOUNT VERNON — City Council, meeting Monday as the Personnel and Public Relations Committee, did not give any clear indication about whether it will vote to put a charter commission issue on the ballot. However, it will continue to study the issue and will receive answers next Monday to several questions.

The questions were mostly technical in nature, including what dates they have to meet to place the question on the November ballot, how many signatures will be required for candidates to serve on a charter commission, and whether individuals will have to circulate petitions or whether groups can circulate a joint petition.

Council looked at the charter idea briefly last year, but decided to delay any action until after the income tax increase issue was decided.
