SPARTA — For the past three years, the best softball pitcher in the area laid down the law wearing Danville blue.

There’s a new sheriff in town.

Lucy Smith allowed two hits and no earned runs while striking out two as the Highland Scots demolished the Blue Devils, 17-2, on both teams’ Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference debuts Monday in Sparta.
