MOUNT VERNON — Carol J. Dunbar, 80, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark.

She was born Oct. 3, 1937, in Westerville to the late Burton and Gertie (Rogers) Bailey. Carol was a volunteer at the Centerburg Food Pantry and was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 637 in Millersport. Carol was also a member of the Brandon Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of over 35 years, John Dunbar; two daughters, Jami (William) Casto, Robin Prothro; her son, Mikel (Tara) Monnett; her grandson, Christopher (Christine) Prothro; her great-grandson Justice Bjornstad-Prothro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Hamby and Pauline Snyder.

Friends may call Friday, March 30, 2018, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Brandon Baptist Church. A service will follow, beginning at noon with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery in Newark.
