LAKEVILLE — Andrew I. “Andy” “Sonny” Kochera, 82, of Lakeville, formerly of Seven Hills, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 10, 1935, in Cleveland and was the son of the late Clarence A. and Helen (Palko) Kochera.

Andy was a veteran of the United States Army and a former pilot. He retired from Action Coupling and Equipment, Inc. in Holmesville following 23 years of service and had also worked 23 years with Red Head Brass in Shreve. Over the years, Andy volunteered his time to the Holmes County Humane Society and to any individual that ever needed help. He loved fixing cars, machinery, and building weird stuff. Andy was a cherished father and an amazing husband. He cared first about others and then about himself. His sense of humor brought us happiness. Andy was the definition of humility. His awesomeness will be missed and forever remembered.

Andy is survived by his wife, Anne B. (Arnold) Kochera, whom he married Sept. 18, 1971; children Andrew, Mary (Cumhur) and Steph; four grandchildren; brothers, Peter and John; and sisters, Shirley and Rita; lots of nieces and nephews, and very close family friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jake Kochera.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 2, at 10 a.m., in St. Peter Catholic Church, Loudonville, with Father Vincent Hawk and Father Homer Blubaugh officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Glenmont with military honors provided by the American Legion and VFW. Friends may call Friday, March 30, from 4-7 p.m. at Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville. Those wishing to share a memory or make online condolences may do so by visiting www.Byerly-Lindsey.com. A portion of sympathy contributions will be compiled and donated in Andy’s memory to the charitable organization in support of research, treatment, and management of Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) and/or directly to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH 44691.
