MOUNT VERNON — Barred by a protection order from speaking with his kids, a Knox County Fairboard director tried to use a 14-year-old girl as an intermediary, according to police reports.

Scott Moody, 46, Mount Vernon, is charged in Mount Vernon Municipal Court with violating a protection order, a first-degree misdemeanor. The charges stem from March 10, when Moody allegedly texted a friend of his daughter, asking her to pass on messages to his kids.

A protection order restraining Moody from having contact with his wife, son, and two daughters was filed Jan. 26 after Moody allegedly assaulted his 11-year-old son. Moody was charged with domestic violence in the incident. The domestic violence charge is scheduled for jury trial May 3 in municipal court.
