HOWARD — A Danville woman and the Kokosing River Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation received a commendation from the Ohio Department of Wildlife at the chapter’s annual dinner Saturday.

Amy McDonald was presented with the ODW’s Wildlife Award for establishing a National Archery in the Schools program at Danville Local Schools. Wildlife officer Michael Budd, who was one of three officers to present the award, said the program teaches youth weapons safety and “opens the door to bow hunting, should they choose to pursue it in the future.”

Budd noted the Kokosing River Chapter also played a role, helping to fund the archery program.
