MOUNT VERNON — William L. Straight, 76, of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept. 20, 1941, in Atwood, the son of William H. and Mildred (Lancaster) Straight. Bill retired in 1994 after 31 years of employment as a road supervisor for Clinton Township.

Bill was a member of Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting, but most important to him was the quality time he spent with his loving family.

Bill is survived by his wife Carlyn (Fuller) Straight whom he married Dec. 11, 1964; his children, Sue Cutler of Madison, Wisconsin, Steven (Robin) Straight of Morrison, Colorado, and Sandy (Ed) Lancaster of New Martinsville, West Virginia; nine grandchildren, Randy (Ashley Ruby) Mitchell, Nathen (Nikki Jordan) Mitchell, Sidney (Justin Clarke) Mitchell, Sarah Cutler, Kristy (Jon) Hernandez, Michael Cutler, Carter Straight, Seth (Sara Semerar) Pay and Hayden Lancaster; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl (Sally) Straight of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Nancy Peak of New Castle, Pennsylvania, and Theresa (Donald) Ridenour of Mount Vernon.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Straight and David Straight; three sisters, Maxine Kromoff, Mary Blair and Nina Knox.

In following with William’s wishes the family will observe a private graveside service. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of William L. Straight.
