DANVILLE — At the request of residents, the village of Danville is looking into the idea of accepting online or credit card payments for water and sewer bills.

Deputy Clerk Tina Durbin said in a letter to council members that due to the number of requests, she checked with several places that offer online or credit card payment services. Govpaynet was the one most willing to work with the village she said, and each council member was presented details of their proposal at the village council meeting Monday.

The proposal would include a small fee, payable by the resident, with each bill. A bill less than $50 would be charged a $1 fee, while those with bills between $50 and $100 would be charged $2 for using a credit card. A debit card payment would include a fee of 1.15 percent of the payment with a $1 minimum.
