MOUNT VERNON — Carla (Vance) Proper passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on March 1, 2018. She was born in Akron, Ohio, on April 26, 1961, to Glenda (Vance) House and Carl Vance.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carl, and sisters, Kelly and Kimberly. She is survived by her husband, James Proper; daughter, Jodi Maslowski; sons, Joseph Maslowski, Josh (Rachel) Proper and Justin (Lucy) Proper; and five grandchildren, Kayla, Brendan, Jillian, Maddilynn and Kinsley. She is also survived by her mother, Glenda House; sisters, Shelly (Rick) Terrell, Terry (Robert) Thomas and Mary Vance; brother, Richard (Teresa) Martin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh, Michigan.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on April 26 at 6 p.m., at the Elks Lodge on Public Square, Mount Vernon.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Hospice of Knox Co.
