MOUNT VERNON — A Howard woman was sentenced Wednesday to house arrest for a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 17-year-old Danville youth.

Glenna J. Young, 74, was sentenced by Mount Vernon Municipal Court Judge John Thatcher to 30 days of house arrest, a two-year license suspension and fines of $650 on charges of vehicular manslaughter and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Thatcher ordered Young to “bear the cost” of the terms of house arrest, including an electronic monitoring device.

As a term of her probation, Young is to further complete an approved driver safety course for elderly drivers.

The charges stem from Aug. 26, 2017. Young was making a turn in the intersection of Danville-Amity Road and North Ridge Heights Drive when she pulled into the path of a motorcycle driven by Jonathan A. Wise, 17, of Danville.
