DELAWARE — The Centerburg Trojans’ basketball season was snatched away in the second half of Tuesday’s OHSAA Division III district semifinal. The Trojans, who led 24-23, after the first half, dropped a 55-45 decision to the Bishop Ready Silver Knights and have been eliminated.

“We turned the ball over too many times,” Centerburg Trojans’ coach Todd Nauman said, “We needed all the shot opportunities we could get.”

Ready grabbed eight steals in the second half, including a pair by Nikki Hawkins (eight points), which led to scores by her and Demeke Bramwell (eight points). That gave Ready a 32-27 lead, midway through the third quarter. The Silver Knights had a game total of 10 steals, which also included three by Dani Hall (10 points). Centerburg managed only four steals.
