MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon High School played host to a variety of alumni and community service agencies on Tuesday during an all-day career workshop event at the school.

Throughout the day, former students, prominent local businesses and non-profit organizations held workshop sessions to show the students their career and organizational success.

This event was organized by a committee headed up by biology teacher Bonnie Schutte. The workshops were held in an effort to provide freshman and sophomore students with interesting and interactive things to do while the junior class was busy with ACT testing and the senior class spent the day shadowing colleges and businesses.

The event featured a broad range of topics. Schutte explained to the News, “We had a list of teachers who weren’t hosting the ACT test and gave them an opportunity to talk about and display either something related to their career or something they are truly passionate about.”
