MOUNT VERNON — Marilyn J. Yeager, 82, of Mount Vernon, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018. She was born on Feb. 14, 1936, in Columbus, the daughter of Alva and Lillian (Gix) Phillips. After teaching in the Columbus School System for several years, Marilyn retired in 1998 after 30 years of teaching in Mount Vernon City Schools.

She was proud to be a teacher and farmer, always offering her assistance on the family farm. Marilyn considered it a blessing to be able to minister the gospel throughout her lifetime and she was very active in studying her family genealogy.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Lori Boesken of Mount Vernon, Bill (Amy) Yeager of Hilliard and Dan (Lisa) Yeager of Granville; five grandchildren, Kate, Lauren, Steven, Connor and Christy; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Madalyn.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Yeager; son-in-law, Jack Boesken, brother, Bill Phillips and a sister, Carol Paulson.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 2, beginning at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 303 S. Edgewood Road, Mount Vernon. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Bill Barton will be officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Marilyn’s name may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or the Knox County Animal Shelter.
