MOUNT VERNON — Carroll “Fred” Fredrick Edwards, 75, of Mount Vernon, passed away Monday, Feb. 12. He was born Oct. 29, 1942 in Proctorville, OH, and grew up in Huntington, West Virginia. He is the son of the late Charles and Edna Edwards.

He was a long time president of the Mount Vernon Shopping Center Association. He also worked several years as the canteen manager at the VFW.

Fred was baptized at the Emmanuel Baptist Church and, though not currently a member of a church, maintained his faith and hope in God. He will be remembered by his friends and loved ones as a good listener and storyteller who enjoyed reading and golfing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Sims Edwards, his brothers, and sister. Surviving family members include his daughters, Angela Ellas of Columbus, and Jennifer Edwards of Los Angeles, California.

Fred’s daughters plan to honor their father in a private remembrance.
