MOUNT VERNON — “Grandpa Ticklebug,” F. David Arensberg, ended his journey at Dawn’s country care center in Gallatin Missouri. David was born in Columbus on April 7, 1940, the son of Harry J. and Emily (Martin) Arensberg of Newark. He graduated from Alexandria high School in 1958. He married Roberta Hoover on April 8, 1959. As a young man he worked at Western Electric until he became a full time farmer in Mount Vernon and relocated to Moberly Missouri in 1979.

He is survived by his children, Scott (Laurina) Arensberg of Newark, Sandra (Kevin) Gilister of Argyle, Texas, Bradley (Mary Beth) Arensberg of Clintonville, Julie (RJ) Johnson of Centralia, Missouri, Amy (Larry) Lentin of Chesterfield, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and Billie and Honey, his beloved dogs. He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Susie.

His children donated his body to Science Care so that one day there may be a cure for heart disease. The family will plant a tree in his honor at a later date.
