ASHLAND — The Hive took its show on the road Tuesday and added to Mount Vernon’s championship history book.

The Yellow Jackets fought through a pesky Ashland defense to pull away late in their 56-48 victory. The win was enough to lock up at least a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference title.

“You don’t win a championship by accident,” said Mount Vernon head coach Nick Coon. “It takes a lot of ingredients and mixed the right way. Somehow, we got this done.”
