FREDERICKTOWN — If the old saying, “chicks dig the long ball” is true, then there are a lot of happy Freddie birds after Friday’s boys basketball game.

The Fredericktown Freddies hit 11 3-pointers Friday, including five from the hands of Leighton Cunningham, to run away with Friday’s Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference showdown against East Knox, 67-36.

Cunningham scored a career-high 25 points in the Fredericktown rout. He finished his 15-point first half with a pair of 3-pointers to give his team a 39-10 lead.

“We were looking to the middle, then kicking it out for the 3,” Cunningham said. “We came together and realized what he had to do.”
