MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Health Department is running out of room, Health Commissioner Julie Miller told the Knox County Commissioners Thursday.

Driving the need for more space is growth in the health department staff. Miller informed commissioners that the staff, currently at 50 employees, is expected to grow to 70 within the next five to 10 years. Addressing the growth means more floor space will be needed, either at the current health department building or a new site, Miller said.
