MOUNT VERNON — Donald E. Eberhart, 84, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018.

He was born April 14, 1933, in Mount Vernon to Edwin M. and Bessie (Humrichouser) Eberhart.

Don attended Hiawatha Grade School, followed by Mount Vernon High School. He served our country in the 101st Airborne, in the United States Army. From there he came home to work in the family business, Eberhart’s Garage. Upon the death of his father, Edwin Michael “Whitey” in 1967, the business was turned over to Don, and “we were busy!” He retired in 1994, and closed the business.

Don loved his Dobermans. He owned five, all named Spike. Don also loved his best friend and caregiver Steward Squires of Marengo.

Graveside services will be private at Mound View Cemetery.
