Sign Ordinance 1.5 mb PDF

MOUNT VERNON — An update of the city’s sign code will be the main topic for a joint meeting of the Municipal Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Historic Review Commission at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in City Council Chambers. The Planning Commission has called the meeting to discuss a proposed updating of the city’s sign code.

Nancy Vail, Planning and Zoning Committee Chair for City Council, said that in the past year or so, questions have been raised, including by the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Historical Review Committee about the sign code and it has become clear the code needs to be “modernized and updated.”

“Some things change and it’s time for us to take a look at it,” she said. “We’re open to input. Sometimes another pair of eyes may see something we missed.”
