MOUNT VERNON — Prior to Saturday’s nonconference home game against DeSales, Mount Vernon’s last three victories have been by three points or fewer. DeSales took the Yellow Jackets to the limit again on Saturday, but another big fourth quarter put Mount Vernon over the top once more, winning 65-61.

“Once again, our players battled and battled,” head coach Nick Coon said. “DeSales is a well-coached team and have a great tradition. It was a grind it out type of game. We had some difficulty guarding them at times, but made enough stops late in the game to get the job done.”
