MOUNT VERNON — Head Coach Jeana Howald and the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Softball program has set the date for its annual clinic, Saturday, Feb. 17.

The clinic’s two sessions, for girls 12 & under (9-11 a.m.) and 13-18 (11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., will be held in the Donoho Recreation Center in the Prince Student Union of MVNU. Howald will serve as the director of the clinic, and will be assisted by her softball assistant coaches, former players and the current MVNU softball team.

It is designed to teach and strengthen fundamental skills, techniques, and mechanics required to excel in the game of softball. Special emphasis will be given to hitting instruction, bunting, slapping, defensive skills and position play.
There is a fee, and the clinic form with further information and directions for signing up is included Participants are expected to bring a glove, indoor shoes, a batting helmet and a bat.
