HOWARD — Members of the East Knox FFA recently conducted a food drive to help stock the shelves of the Central Christian Church which helps out members of the surrounding community.
The food drive committee, led by committee chairs Maddie Rine, CC Cochran and Savannah Gilmore, set up a competition between the grade levels 7-12 at the Junior/Senior High School. Nonperishable food items were collected over a 10-day time frame and the winning grade level was given an ice cream party.
This years’ winning class was the seventh grade. Twenty-one boxes of canned food and other non-perishable food items along with over $500 were given to the Central Christian Church for stocking shelves and disbursement.
East Knox FFA would like to thank all who participated in this worthwhile event. Community service and volunteering is a very important and needed part of society.
