NEWARK — After sitting vacant since July 2016, the sale of the Longaberger Basket building was finalized on Friday.

The Longaberger Co. was started in 1973 by Dave Longaberger in Dresden. The seven-story, 180,000-square-foot building, located at 1500 E. Main St. in Newark, was opened in 1997 and cost $32 million to build.

It operated as the Longaberger Company’s main office until 2016, when the remaining employees were transferred to the Zanesville offices and the building was closed.
