SPARTA — Highland played well in its nonconference home battle with Utica on Wednesday night, keeping the game within two points through the first three quarters before the Redskins finally overwhelmed the Scots in the fourth quarter for a 59-45 victory.

Highland (4-6) senior Erica Sardinha and Utica sophomore Emily Londot put on a great show, each scoring about half of their teams’ points. Londot was held scoreless from her post position in the Redskins’ eight-point first quarter, but was allowed to take over from there, scoring 22 points in the second and third quarters alone. Sardinha, a guard, also picked up her game in the middle periods, scoring 18 of her 23 points to keep the Scots close.
