MOUNT VERNON — Lonnie L. Higgins Sr., 74, of Mount Vernon, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 27, 2017.

He was born March 11, 1943, in Homer to the late Chester C. and Ida (Rathburn) Higgins.

Lonnie was a longtime member of Milford Church of Christ. He was a journeyman wireman with IBEW, Local #688 in Mansfield for 40 years. Lonnie farmed, was a member of the National Guard and was generous in helping people. He felt we are put on this earth to help others — and that is exactly what he did, helped others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Judy K. (Clippinger) Higgins; son Lonnie L. Higgins Jr. of Mount Vernon; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Ron Jones of Fresno; four grandchildren, Shelby Holbert, Loni (Devon) Ash, Logan Higgins and Kasey Jones; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Vicki Higgins; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Don Dalrymple, all of Mount Vernon; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his dog, Buddy.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Jane Kennedy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ken A. Clippinger and Kaye E. Clippinger.

Per Lonnie’s request there will be no services. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Road, Dublin, OH 43017.
