ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. — Long Island University-Post junior Rachel Londot, a native of Utica, Ohio, was named East Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Year and earned All-Conference First Team accolades.
She was also awarded to the Academic All-District team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Londot finished third in the conference this past season in hitting percentage (.293) and was third in the ECC in total kills with 390. Londot, who plays outside hitter for the Pioneers, is just six kills away from her 1,000th collegiate kill.
Londot’s Player of the Year award marks the second time she was named to the All-Conference team. She appeared on the Second Team last season.
Londot is one of the three ECC student-athletes to be given an academic award by the district. The district emcompasses three conferences in the northeast section of the U.S. She is currently majoring in forensic science and criminal justice.
The award qualifies Londot for the All-American team, which will be announced later this month.
Long Island-Post earned a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament this season. The Pioneers were eliminated in the first round by American International.
