MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Humane Society will once again offer “Pet Photos with Santa” on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 12:30-3:30 p.m., at the Gambier Community Center, 115 Meadow Lane. There is a cost per pet. Caretakers receive two 4-inch by 6-inch color photos of their beloved pet(s) with Santa.

The Knox County Humane Society is also holding its annual “Animals Light up our Lives” fundraiser. This event is held in honor and remembrance of animals that “Light up our Lives.” Caretakers purchase a colored Christmas light for a treasured living pet and a clear light for a beloved deceased pet — the lights are then strung on the outdoor tree and a blessing and tree lighting ceremony is held.

This year’s celebration will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, at noon at the Knox County Humane Society, 400 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon. Caretakers are invited to bring their pets (please have dogs leashed and other pets in carriers) for the blessing and tree lighting. After the ceremony, participants are invited to enjoy holiday refreshments and a tour of the Cat Shelter.

All proceeds from both fundraising events stay in Knox County and benefit the Knox County Humane Society, Knox County’s local, 501(c)(3) non-profit humane organization.
