MOUNT VERNON — Thankful for their blessings and for all they have, the students at Christian Star Academy showed their gratitude by working to help those less fortunate — to be specific, victims of the recent hurricanes in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.

They held bake sales to raise money to purchase necessary items. One was held at the Plaza Shopping Center and another at Baker’s IGA, which head teacher Suzanne Feasel said, was “hugely successful.”

“I am so amazed at the generosity of our community,” she added.
