HILLIAR TOWNSHIP — Central Ohio Joint Fire District now has some firm cost estimates on a pair of possible plans for remodeling the fire station, but they’re going to have to find some additional money to pay for either one.

Fire District Board member Tom Stewart and Chief Joe Porter will look into funding possibilities over the next month and report back to the board in December.

Board member Tim Eyster, who was not at Tuesday’s meeting, will also be briefed on the figures presented by Rich Pontius of Thomas and Marker Construction of Columbus, the firm which has been developing plans for the fire district.

The district has about $400,000 in cash available from an estate left to the district, but that’s not enough to pay for the more limited proposal based on existing staff, let alone pay for the plan considered in order to deal with expected growth in the district, since Centerburg now has water and sewer services to accommodate growth spilling out from the Columbus metropolitan area.
