MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Goliards Chamber Choir and the MVNU Jazz Band will collaborate to provide a joint concert of contrasting music on Thursday at 8 p.m., in Thorne Performance Hall in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Building. The concert is free and the community is invited and encouraged to attend.

Goliards will perform a cappella selections that share messages of hope, longing, peace, and promise to compel us to be more like Jesus. The Jazz Band will present a program of jazz, pop, and Broadway standards including material from Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Dean Martin and more. The two ensembles will join together to end their concert with a fun and lively piece, “Come Fly With Me,” arranged by Gregory Yasinitsky.
