Equipment failure at an AEP substation near Howard and South McKenzie streets caused loss of power to about 2,100 AEP Ohio customers Friday afternoon around 2 p.m.

According to a spokesperson, equipment malfunction resulted in a downed live wire. The substation had to be de-energized for the problem to be corrected. Some customers saw the return of power by 3:15 p.m. Remaining customers are expected to come to online by 4:30 p.m.
