SPARTA — A white truck unloaded food products at the concession area near the football stadium. Meanwhile, a Highland High School maintenance worker hosed down the nearby steps, while a student took inventory in an equipment storage area.

It’s almost as if they’re getting ready for a football game.

They are.

Highland High School will host its first regional semifinal football game tonight at Fishburn Family Field. Carey will take on Jeromesville Hillsdale in a Division VI at 7:30 p.m. The stadium has to be ready, and Highland Athletic Director Mike DeLaney is overseeing the entire project. It’s kept a number of school employees busy, and it’s occupied nearly every moment of DeLaney’s week.
