MOUNT VERNON — Many motions were discussed at Wednesday night’s monthly Knox County Fair Board meeting, particularly about preparing for the upcoming fair season next summer, as well as hiring a new secretary and treasurer.

One of the first topics discussed was renting spaces for the auction and vendors in the fair buildings. The board, after discussing many different options, decided to keep the $150 rental for a 2-day space — one day for the sale, and the day before to allow time for vendors to set up. Any additional setup days will cost $25.

Next on the list was the hiring of a new secretary and treasurer. Brian Durbin told the board that they had decided on two applicants they liked for the positions. One was Emily Hollis, who will be the new secretary. The other was Heather Rauscher, who will be taking over the treasurer position. Rauscher was also in attendance last night, introducing herself to the board.
