MOUNT VERNON — For me, the month of November brings to mind hearty comfort foods such as roasted turkey, yams and sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and, of course, cranberry dishes.
One aspect I love about these red little berries is the fact that they are so versatile to cook with. Although they are most popular in the form of cranberry sauce, jelly or Jell-O, they are delightful additions to numerous November pastries, such as muffins, scones, tortes and breads. Cranberries can even add a fresh flavor to salty or savory dishes. They can enhance veggie sides when paired with Brussels sprouts or green beans, and they taste delicious when prepared with pork or beef entrees.
