HOWARD — Trish Rankin, 72, of Howard, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at her residence. She was born in Johnstown, Pa., on Aug. 14, 1945, to the late Edward and Sara (Wilson) Wirick.

Trish was a very giving person and volunteered her time to the Apple Valley Garden Club, Apple Valley Singers Club, Suicide Task Force of Knox County, Brookshire Elementary School in Orlando, Fla., and she dedicated over 13 years of her life to the Hospice of Knox County. She also volunteered for churches and schools. Trish was a member of the Gay St. United Methodist Church and was involved with many activities there.

She graduated from college with a teaching degree. Trish enjoyed scrapbooking, fairy gardening, and being on her boat in Apple Valley Lake. She is the published author of “Where’s the Veil?”

She is survived by her children, Lissa Rankin of Muir Beach, Calif., Christopher (Kimberly) Rankin of Bexley, Ohio, Keli Rankin of Howard, Ohio; four grandchildren, Izayah Graham, Malen Rankin, Nicholas Rankin and Siena Klein; two sisters, Lin (Rev. Scott) Campbell of South Paris, Maine, Tina (Paul) Mayr of Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, Ted (Suzanne) Wirick Jr. of McClenney, Fla., Tom Wirick of Orlando, Fla., Bob (Mindy) Wirick of Orlando, Fla.; 21 nieces and nephews; as well as many godchildren.

Along with her parents, Trish was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. David Lee Rankin.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Nov. 3, from 5-7 p.m., at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m., at the Gay St. United Methodist Church, 18 N. Gay St., Mount Vernon, with Rev. Karen Oehl officiating.
