MOUNT VERNON — It was hard to tell who was having more fun on Thursday, the residents of Brookdale Mount Vernon or the pupils from the Knox County Career Center preschool. Brookdale opened its doors to the children, who arrived all decked out as princesses, super heroes and other interesting characters.

“Oh, how precious!” one resident exclaimed. “They’re so cute!”

“They are adorable!” others chimed in as the pupils paraded down the halls, stopping along the way to receive treats from the older set.

“I think this is a great way to do Halloween,” resident Dorothy Hart told the News . “I think it’s safer for the kids. Things were different back in my day. And we made our costumes out of paper bags and stuff. We didn’t have the money for such beautiful things.”
