UTICA — The drought is over.

The Utica Redskins passed a major rebuilding milestone with their first win in two years, 27-26, over the Lakewood Lancers in their regular season finale on Friday night.

“I’m so proud of our guys,” said Utica coach Ted Londot. “Our program took a big step with our seniors leading the charge. They were a big part of turning this program around.”

The Redskins, down 20-7 at halftime, allowed a single touchdown in the second half to stave off a second straight winless season.

“It feels so good to win,” said Utica junior linebacker Ryan Cree. “I love everybody on this team and I’m just so happy we could get a win tonight. It’s so good and it’s going to set us up for next year.”
