MOUNT VERNON — Thursday marked the grand opening of the Litter Trail at Wolf Run Regional Park, 17686 Yauger Road.

Contrary to what the name might suggest, the trail is not a place where you can dump your trash. The brainchild of Knox County Littering and Recycling Coordinator Randy Canterbury, the Litter Trail is place where students and adults can learn more about things that people throw away.

There are 12 stations along the trail, each featuring a different type of item often found along the roadways — aluminum cans, steel cans, plastic, glass, cigarette butts, tires, diapers, clothing, food, fast food, Styrofoam and paper.
