MOUNT VERNON — The county will provide an advance to a ditch maintenance fund paid for by property owners, to be paid back in 2018.

The Knox County Commissioners Thursday gave County Administrator Jason Booth permission to draw up a resolution to extend the cap on the Sycamore Meadows Ditch maintenance fund by $2,500. Work on the ditch has exhausted the money in the fund, Booth said.

The fund is paid into through a property tax assessment by property owners adjoining the ditch. Booth said about 10 property owners are assessed for the Sycamore Meadows Ditch.

The resolution will state that the money is to be paid back in 2018, Booth said. The cap will not be raised, nor will the assessments, Booth said.
