MOUNT VERNON — Family named in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from a 2015 double homicide have asked to have the suit dismissed.

In filings in Knox County Common Pleas Court, David Stelk and Brittney Bonham denied claims brought by Loren Barber that they negligently contributed to the death of his daughter, Jaime Barber. Jaime and Sandra Stelk were shot and killed by Travis Bonham Sept. 29, 2015, using a handgun that belonged to Sandra, Travis’ mother. The handgun was purchased by Brittney Bonham and was kept at the Stelk residence, where the murders occurred.

Only Travis, Sandra and Jaime were at the home at the time of the murders.
