MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Fair board is in the midst of many changes with the recent resignation of four of its board members, including the board’s secretary and treasurer. One more resignation is expected.

Brian Durbin, board member, told the News that Tammy Coakley, treasurer; Linda Lahmon, secretary; John Curtis, board member; and Scott Lahmon, board member, have already officially resigned. Jim Shipley is also expected to resign at the board’s next meeting, said Durbin, who reported that Shipley was going to resign earlier, but was convinced to stay a bit longer.

Requests for copies of the resignation letters have been made by the News.

“As of right now we do not have a public records request policy,” Durbin told the News in an email after confirming in a phone interview that the records policy had been “suspended.”

Durbin said that after the resignation of Coakley, the board wrote a new job description for the treasurer position before seeking candidates in order to revise and update it.
