MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Board of Elections will need slightly less than $61,000 to finish the year, Director Kim Horn told the Knox County Commissioners Tuesday morning.

The figure of $60,769.69 represents about 12 percent more than the $500,000 budgeted for the year.

Horn said higher personnel costs were the main culprit, as there was an extra person on board in the spring training to replace Duane Johnson before he left, and a new hire is on board now for training to replace the retiring Belinda Lanning.
