MOUNT VERNON — “See something, hear something, say something” is a mantra in the Mount Vernon City school system and, Monday evening, that helped to bring attention to threats made on social media against the high school.
A male 15-year-old Mount Vernon High School student was taken into custody Monday night and a shotgun recovered from his residence, Mount Vernon Police Department Capt. Scott McKnight told the News this morning. McKnight said the student made a threat against the school on Snapchat, and the threat was quickly reported to law enforcement. MVPD received “multiple calls” alerting them to the threat, McKnight said.
Preliminary MVPD reports indicate a cellphone and 20-gauge shotgun were taken into evidence.
