MOUNT VERNON — A handful of area farmers met Tuesday to informally review the growing season and chat about other things going on in the agriculture world.

Regarding harvests, they said because of the rainy spring there was a somewhat delayed planting season (and some fields had to be replanted), therefore soybean yields are down over last year. Knox County corn yields so far are good, they reported, but have a higher moisture content than expected.
