GAMBIER — Vietnam-era Navy veteran Ronald E. Hull on Monday finally received his Mount Vernon High School diploma. He was a special guest at the school board meeting held at Wiggin Street Elementary, and said it was great to get his diploma, even if it was 55 years after his MVHS Class of 1962 graduated.

“Before tonight, everyone in my family had a diploma except me,” he added.

Hull said he enlisted in the Navy the fall of 1961, and served on the USS Midway during the Vietnam War. He has since been active in the American Legion and Amvets. He is proud that his daughter also served in the Navy and said one grandson is currently a Green Beret and another is serving in Army Intelligence.
